(Note: because of consolidation week, GROUP A will start this practical on THURSDAY 5th Nov, while those in GROUP B will start the practical on MONDAY 16th Nov. ALL students should begin their reading and research ASAP !!)

(This practical is partly based on Field Measurements YOU will all collect in All Saints Park on WEDNESDAY 11th Nov. Download the PDF GROUP TIME-SLOT LIST to find out when YOU are expected to attend). Note: If it is raining then do not attend - just use the sample data provided below
The following support documents are provided for the Spectral Response Field Practical:

SUPPORT DOCUMENTS

Assignment 1a & 1b (worth 50%) - PDF format

(Assignment 1a due on Friday 18th December 2009 at 12 Noon !)

(Assignment 1b due on Friday 5th March 2010 at 12 Noon !)

Feedback for Assignment 1a can be downloaded >HERE< (PDF format)

ASSIGNMENT 2 - GROUP PRESENTATIONS

Assignment 2 (worth 50%) - PDF format

(Assignment 2 presentations due during week beginning Monday 3rd May 2010)

Assignment 2: Group List. >CLICK HERE< to download (.XLS spreadsheet file)
(let Mark Cresswell know ASAP if your name is not on this list)

ALL group members are required to declare their share of the effort within their group (this should be 25% per person for a 4-member group). One declaration form must be completed PER GROUP (i.e. not individually). This form MUST be provided on the day of the group presentation. You can download it >HERE< (Word format)

In addition - at the time of the presentation, each group must also submit the following paper items (as listed on the assignment cover sheet):

1) A paper copy of the presentation slides (preferably in colour but black/white is OK)
2) A4 Supplementary Handout
3) A copy of the group meeting minutes

(please staple these documents together when handing in at the end of your group's presentation)

The details for your group presentations are as follows:
ALL groups will attend the presentation session on Thursday 6th May between 11am and 1pm (2 hours)

Groups 1 to 9 will be in room E221
Groups 10 to 18 will be in room E223

A copy of the marking scheme used by staff is >HERE< (Word format)

Please circulate this info to your fellow group members in case they don't read this email
All MUST attend the session unless you have evidence worthy of submitting Exceptional Factors (EF).
Failure to attend without evidence for EF will likely lead to a failure of the unit - or a very poor mark!
The sessions will run under 'exam regulations' - so please turn up on time (perhaps slightly early is best) and NO MOBILE PHONES to be switched on.

You should contact your fellow group members and start the process of meeting to discuss your Assignment 2 presentation. DO NOT wait for them to contact you - be proactive - and keep a detailed record (diary) of who contributes what to the overall process. You should aim to have regular weekly meetings and decide which tasks should be undertaken by which group member. Any one who fails to engage will lose their share of their group's marks and could even fail!!
